THE Donald Trump accused him Emmanuel Macron how he “slicks” the Chinese leader Xi Jinping after the French president’s visit to Beijing, during an interview he granted to the Fox News television network and broadcast yesterday, Tuesday.

Mr. Macron has been criticized from several quarters because of his position, with which he called on the European Union not to become a “follower” of either America or China, especially on the issue of Taiwan, after his return from Asia .

“Macron, who is my friend, goes to China and licks (Xi Jinping),” former President Trump claimed.

The Republican former president charged the administration of his Democratic successor, Joe Biden how it has weakened the leadership role of the US on the international stage, to the extent that it is losing the support of its traditional allies.

“The world is broken, it’s blowing up everywhere, and the US has no reason to,” Mr Trump said.

“I said okay! France is going to China now,'” he added.

Mr. Biden’s administration has tried to de-dramatize the situation, asserting that the bilateral relationship with France is excellent.

Faced with the reactions, the French presidency defended Mr. Macron’s position, judging that “the special voice” of Europe must be heard.
