Serbia has no involvement in war in Ukraine, minister saidDefender Milos Vucevic, denying reports that Belgrade supplies the Ukrainian army with war material. This statement was made on the occasion of the publication of a secret document leaked by the US Pentagon, which ranks Serbia among the “countries that have given their consent to the sending of war material to Ukraine”.

Milos Vucevic described these allegations as malicious. “We have disproved it at least ten times, we will do it one more time. Serbia has not sold, nor will it sell, arms to the Ukrainian or Russian side but neither in the countries that surround them. “Some are obviously trying to drag Serbia into this conflict, but we are resisting by following our firm stance of neutrality,” Serbian Defense Minister told Tanjug news agency. However, he did not rule out the possibility of some third countries buying weapons from Serbia and then promoting them to the Ukrainian army, in violation of international rules.

The issue of the sale of Serbian ammunition to Ukraine first arose in late 2022 when Russian state media broadcast videos of Ukrainian military operations showing the mortar shells to be of Serbian origin. The Serbian Ministry of Defense and the military industry “Krusik” that produces the missiles in question denied the Russian reports and claimed that no war material was exported to Ukraine.

On March 2, 2023, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated at a press conference that there is information about the use of Serbian military equipment by the Ukrainian army. Belgrade issued a new denial through the mouth of the President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vucic.

It is noted that Serbia has not imposed sanctions against Russia, while on the other hand it has voted in favor of all the resolutions of the UN General Assembly condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
