Moscow is preparing for the Ukrainian counterattack. In this context, Russian military forces are transporting large quantities of supplies and quantities of water to the nuclear plant of Zaporizhia, which Moscow seized from Southeast Ukraine after the 2022 invasion, as the Ukrainian Atomic Energy Agency announced today Friday.

Energoatom announced that this development could mean that Russia is preparing to trap workers inside the plant due to a drastic reduction in certified personnel at Europe’s largest nuclear power plant, pending a spring Ukrainian counterattack.

Russia did not immediately comment.

“Given the severe shortage of nuclear specialists needed for the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, which has been temporarily seized and fearing a Ukrainian counterattack, (the Russians) are preparing for the long term holding workers as hostages”, Energoatom reported.
