The historic village of Knock, County Mayo, Ireland, visited on Friday the president of the USA, Joe Biden where he was left alone for a few minutes in order to pray. He held a rosary on his wrist that once belonged to his late son Bo. It is recalled that the Beau Biden died at age 46 of brain cancer.

“The president came as a pilgrim, and as most pilgrims do, they want to talk about their family, themselves and their faith,” said Father Richard Gibbons, parish priest. In fact, according to Father Gibbons, Joe Biden snorted when he met the man who had shared his son for the last time. Joe Biden said he quickly referred to Beau, and Gibbons said he informed him that the chaplain who read Beau Biden’s last wish and interred him at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center nearly eight years ago, named Frank O’Grady, was now in Knock.

With tears in his eyes, Joe Biden thanked the priest who was at his son’s bedside as he died. Fr O’Grady, who served in the army for 30 years and had worked at Walter Reed, returned to Ireland in August and began his service in Knock last September.

“Everything happened very quickly”, said Father O’Grady, who passed through security as soon as the US president requested a meeting. Fr O’Grady said he had a “pleasant” 10-minute meeting with the US president, as well as his sister, Valerie, and son, Hunter.

“He finds great strength in his faith,” said Father O’Grady. “He misses his son very much and was very happy to run into me.” “His visit to Knock, where people come to share their pain, resonated with his own son who went through many illnesses.”he stated.

Joe Biden has invited him to the White House on his next visit to the United States, Father O’Grady said.

The American president later stated that he was deeply affected by the meeting.
