Two months ago, Kim laid the foundation for the new housing project, described as a “luxurious road of socialism full of human happiness.”
North Korean authorities held a ceremony on Sunday to celebrate the completion of 10,000 newly built modern homes in Pyongyang’s Hwasong New District, the official KCNA news agency reported.
The country’s leader Kim Jong Un attended the ceremony, as did several other top government officials, including Prime Minister Kim Tok Hun, according to the same source.

The ceremony came two months after Kim laid the foundation in February for a new housing project, which KCNA described as a “luxurious road of socialism full of human happiness.”
In 2021, North Korea announced plans to build 50,000 new apartments in the capital over five years. Since then, some construction projects have progressed but others have been delayed, while both South Korea and the West have raised concerns about shortages of food and other essentials.
