The number of people currently positive for the virus in Italy is 1,943,979.

Schools are set to reopen in Italy tomorrow after the Christmas holidays. The government of Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, however, announced that it would appeal against this decision.
Many high school students insist that cases have multiplied and that a relatively broad recourse to distance education will be needed. According to the Italian high school teachers, the total absences may reach 10% of the educational and administrative staff tomorrow.
“It’s a matter of principle, our schools will reopen tomorrow. We will all face any absences together with a more general, constructive will. “What I ask of the families, of the parents is to show the maximum possible solidarity and to vaccinate their children,” Education Minister Patricio Bianchi told Rai TV.
