The Paraguayan police’s drug prosecution service seized almost a tonne of cocaine and arrested the alleged organizer of the trafficking, the son of a former lawmaker known for advocating decriminalization of marijuana, his spokesman said Sunday.
Members of the Secretaría Nacional Antidrogas (SENAD) conducted six simultaneous operations in three cities near the capital, Asuncion, to seize this highly purified cocaine.
The alleged trafficker is Fernando Enrique Valbuena, the son of Liberal politician Elvis Valbuena, a well-known lawmaker in Paraguay who has spoken out in favor of decriminalizing marijuana.
