Turkey’s new small aircraft carrier, TCG Anadolu, set sail this morning from the port of Istanbul bound for the Black Sea.

As the ship passed through the Bosphorus, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his office at Dolmabahce Palace greeted the crew from the shore.

The multi-role amphibious operations vessel Anadolu, which is capable of carrying and launching unmanned aerial vehicles, joined the Turkish Navy on April 10 and then sailed to the port of Istanbul, where it was visited by civilians.

It has a length of 232 meters and a displacement of 27,500 tons.

It has a tank that can carry four landing craft, 10 helicopters and 50 unmanned aerial vehicles can be operated from it, and it has a garage for the transport of 46 armored vehicles and 33 light vehicles.

It is staffed by a staff of 1,200 people.
