Moving… target it seems to be the much advertised Turkish aircraft carrier Anadolu according to Turkish media!
As SKAI’s correspondent in Istanbul, Manolis Kostidis, reports, the Turkish media have revealed that the aircraft carrier that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is advertising so much during the pre-election campaign it has no… anti-aircraft protection!
As Milliyet newspaper journalist Ozai Sentir reported “The Anadolu protection force will join when it heads to the Aegean in the coming days. Nevertheless we need immediately the air defense of this ship. But the TF2000 ship, the Turkish frigate, was delayed and is still delayed. We should get for this role the two British ships aged 35 years. Let them say whatever they want. In the past we have taken American ships that are 50 years old.”
“I asked our Minister of Defense (s.s. Hulusi Akar) and he told us that these ships will be able to serve for 20 years” added the journalist.
“It looks like we’re going to buy two of the British ships to protect Anadolu. One to protect it and the other for spare parts” he emphasized.
“We will not leave Anadolu without anti-aircraft protection. It will be accompanied by frigates, submarines. I also saw this ship at sea. We must protect this ship well” Sentir pointed out.
