A day after the deadly missile strikes by the Russian Armed Forces on several Ukrainian cities, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky blamed Russian soldiers and their commanders for war crimes.

“Not only the commanders, but all of you, you are all terrorists and murderers and you must all be punished,” Mr. Zelensky said in his speech last Saturday night. Every pilot and every missile launcher operator, every technician who maintains aircraft and ships for Russian “terrorism” is complicit in war crimes, he insisted.

The head of the Ukrainian state expressed himself a day after the death of – among others – 23 people in the city of Uman, including six minors, he said.

According to Mr. Zelensky, Russia should not just be weakened in the war, but be held accountable for war crimes. He again advocated the creation of a special international tribunal to try Russian war criminals, like the one at Nuremberg, which tried Nazi war criminals.

Mr. Zelensky’s frequent reference to Nuremberg is no accident. Among the goals of the “special military operation” ordered by the Kremlin 14 months ago was the “de-Naziization” of Ukraine.
