Two police officers in the USA who were chasing … Pokemon instead of answering a call for robbery lost their job.
Luis Lozano and Eric Mitchell were looking for imaginary creatures in the streets playing a game on their cell phones, according to court records, but these creatures were Pokémon characters and not criminals.
The recording of their conversations inside their police vehicle revealed that they had accepted the call for help from a store in Los Angeles, but had chosen to continue their game.
“Officer Mitchell informed Lozano that Snorlax had just appeared,” the deportation documents said.
“For the next 20 minutes or so, they have been recorded talking about Pokémon as they drive to various locations where virtual creatures appear through their mobile phones.”
The Los Angeles police then leave Snorlax and turn their attention to a Tojetik, who in fact proved difficult to defeat.
“Get it dude. This is fighting me crazy,” Mitchell said, according to documents released last week.
Both are charged with breach of duty and have admitted not responding to the call to go to the robbery point in April 2017.
However, they deny that they played Pokémon.
They both insisted that they were just talking about the game.
However, the California Court of Appeals, which heard their appeal, did not believe them and upheld the expulsion decision.
Pokémon had become fashionable around 2005 with millions of mobile users stuck on their device screens looking for fantastic creatures.
The game was so popular that at some point many military installations warned troops of the dangers of playing the game on a military base or near runways.
His fans have also been accused of causing traffic accidents and at least one border crossing incident was starring someone trying to “catch them all”.
