The president of Ukraine was received by the president of the International Criminal Court Piotr Hofmansky
The president of Ukraine Volodymyr ZelenskHe arrived at the headquarters of the International Criminal Court, which issued the arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin in March.
Wearing his usual khakis, flanked by members of the presidential office in military garb, the Ukrainian president was received by International Criminal Court President Piotr Hofmansky and other dignitaries.
Ukrainian flag has been raised next to the flag of the Court.
The ICC, established in 2002 to prosecute atrocities committed around the world, began investigating crimes committed in Ukraine shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In March, it issued an international arrest warrant for Putin.
Volodymyr Zelenskiy is making his first visit to the Netherlands after participating in the summit meeting of Northern European countries in Helsinki.
“There is no peace without justice”
The president of Ukraine visited the Dutch Senate in The Hague in the morning, while he will deliver a speech entitled “There is no peace without justice for Ukraine” in the presence of Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra. He will then meet with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croix.
“On my way to The Hague to meet Prime Minister Mark Rutte and President Zelensky to discuss Ukraine. Our support remains unwavering,” he tweeted. “This meeting is even more important since it is Remembrance Day in the Netherlands and tomorrow is Liberation Day.”
The Netherlands has been supporting Ukraine since the February 2022 Russian invasion. Last month it announced it would buy 14 Leopard 2 tanks for 165 million euros to supply Kiev with the heavy weapons it needs.
Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized yesterday from Helsinki that this year will be “decisive for Ukraine and Europe” against Russia.
The Ukrainian president also denied that any Ukrainian attack against the Kremlin and Putin had taken place.
