A 30-year-old nurse in the Netherlands has admitted to killing at least 20 patients with coronavirus, the public prosecution department announced today, Thursday.

30-year-old Theodoor V worked as a pulmonologist at the Wilhelmina Hospital in Assen where he admitted that has killed at least 20 people who had contracted Covid-19 because he said he was concerned that the victims were suffering from the disease.

The 30-year-old was arrested three weeks ago at her home after she confessed the act to staff while she was being treated at a mental health clinic, according to the Daily Mail.

Prosecutors said that Mr 30-year-old had revealed “several times” in her conversations with the mental health staffs that “as a pulmonary nurse at WZA, he had prematurely ended the lives of 20 patients during the coronavirus pandemic.”

“The suspect allegedly performed medical procedures on patients who, in his view, were terminally ill and suffering, without the direction of a physician. His statements were taken so seriously by the healthcare organization that they decided, after extensive collective discussion and taking both internal and external legal advice, to breach confidentiality and report it to the WZA.” they reported.

The 30-year-old Theodoor V has been remanded in custody ordered by a court in Assen where he will remain in prison for at least another 30 days.

Authorities will continue to investigate the deaths of patients between March 2020 and May 2022, with the criminal investigation expected to be completed by June while the families of the victims have already been informed of the investigation two weeks ago.
