Britain: Opposition fire in Johnson for Downing Street party

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson did not appear in the House of Commons at noon to answer an urgent question from the opposition about the revelations about another party on Downing Street on May 20, 2020, amid a lockdown.

Undersecretary without portfolio Michael Ellis took his place, who instead of answering the question whether the Prime Minister knew about the party and whether he attended it, according to witnesses, said that we should wait for the completion of the investigation into such allegations.

As he noted, however, the investigation will also include the alleged party of May 20. Mr Ellis emphasized that the decision to suspend criminal investigations was based on a report by Mr Ellie, the second secretary general of the Cabinet Office, who said there was a possibility of criminal charges being brought against him.

Labor Party Deputy Leader Angela Reiner, who asked the urgent question and secured the debate, scolded Prime Minister Johnson for his absence from Parliament.

“His absence speaks for itself. The public has reached its conclusions. “He can run but he can not hide,” said Ms. Reiner, who also cited messages from citizens saying goodbye to relatives on May 20, 2020, who died of coronavirus.

“There is no need to investigate the simple question: did the Prime Minister attend the rally on May 20, 2020? Did he know about the event beforehand and if so, did he give his approval? ” Ms. Reiner continued, even wondering if Boris Johnson is a man “with honor and integrity.”

The leader of the Scottish National Party in Westminster Ian Blackford said that Boris Johnson “has lost all moral prestige and it would be right to resign”, otherwise, as he continued, the Conservative MPs should force him to leave “and now”.
