A new incident of armed violence occurred in the United States, this time in the city of Allen, Texas.

A gunman entered and opened fire in a discount shopping mall, killing at least 9 people and injuring 7 others, mostly teenagers.

According to the American media and twitter, the attacker – a white young man “belted” with ammunition – was shot dead by a police officer.

The gunman was walking slowly down the sidewalk and firing indiscriminately, an eyewitness said.

Videos show customers running away from stores as gunshots ring out.

Dozens of customers and employees were escorted away by police to the exit of the Allen Premium Outlets discount shopping center, which houses about 120 stores and is located 40 kilometers northeast of Dallas.

The motive of the shooter, who is believed to have acted alone, remains unclear, according to Allen Township Police Chief Brian Harvey.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott called the attack an “unspeakable tragedy,” assuring that state authorities are ready to provide any assistance needed by services in the city of Allen.

Since the beginning of the year, there have been 198 gun attacks in the US.
