The woman was traveling through bushland in Victoria, but took a wrong turn and her car got stuck in mud and got stuck there
48-year-old Lillian Ip survived for five days stranded in the bush in Australia by eating sweets and drinking wine.
The woman was traveling through bushland in Victoria, but took a wrong turn and her car got stuck in mud and got stuck there. She only had a bottle of wine with her, which was given as a visiting gift, some lollipops, but no water, according to the BBC.
“The only liquid Lillian had, which she doesn’t drink, was a bottle of wine she had bought as a gift for her mother. That’s what he did,” noted a police official.
After five nights trapped at the scene, she was discovered by emergency services on Friday as they flew over the scene as part of a search. She herself has mobility issues and could not walk far to seek help. It was feared she would not make it out alive, but she was eventually located by paramedics and airlifted to hospital.
“The first thing that came to mind, I was thinking ‘water and cigarettes’,” he told 9News Australia. “Thank God the policeman had a cigarette.”
“I thought I was going to die there. My whole body had stopped working since Friday” he noted and pointed out that “I was ready to give up”.
Having lost all hope of salvation, she wrote a letter to her family, telling them that she loved them.
The 48-year-old was diagnosed with dehydration and after receiving the necessary medical attention, returned to her home in Melbourne.
