Moments after Pakistan’s former prime minister entered the Islamabad High Court building, he was arrested
The former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan was arrested today by the army, his associate announced.
Khan was arrested when he went to a court in Islamabad to hear a corruption case in which he was accused, Geo TV reported.
According to an eyewitness, shortly after Pakistan’s former prime minister entered the Islamabad High Court building, he was followed by members of paramilitary groups and military personnel transport vehicles.

The building’s gate was cordoned off by armored vehicles, while Khan was removed under tight security.
“Imran Khan arrested in Qadir Trust case,” Islamabad police said on its official Twitter account, referring to a corruption case involving the former prime minister.
Khan was removed as prime minister last year in April following a motion of impeachment. During this period he was campaigning for the early elections in October. In March, an arrest warrant against him was canceled after clashes broke out between his supporters and police officers who had gone to his home to arrest him.
