Amateur MMA fighter Shalie Lipp, 21, died in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 94 in Minnesota Sunday morning, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Lipp was one of two passengers in a 2015 Chevy Malibu when it collided with a 2017 Jeep Cherokee carrying three passengers on the Red River Bridge in Moorhead around 11:30 a.m., according to a crash report filed by received by Valley News Live.
Lipp was the only person in the crash who was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.
The occupants of the other vehicle were not injured, and the crash remains under investigation.
Lipp was scheduled to wrestle Natalie Gage at No Mercy 11, which will take place on May 20 at the Kent Freeman Arena in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
No Mercy promoter Jeremy Bjornberg said Lip had just returned from a month-long training session in Thailand.
“He had an amazing work ethic and had just returned a few days after a month of training in Thailand.”
“At 19, she started fighting the top fighters in the Midwest. … She was somebody that everybody knew was going to go somewhere and end up in the UFC.”
Fans and supporters continue to send condolences in the comments of her social media posts.
Lipp last fought in Thailand on April 26, 2023, according to her Instagram.
