THE US Republican Congressman George Santosaccused of embezzling campaign funds, he lied to congress for his income and he cheated the House of Representatives. Santos was arrested by the American authorities and will be brought to trial.

The indictment states that Santos urged his supporters to donate to a company under the false pretense that the money would be used to support his campaign. Instead, he used them for personal expensesincluding the buying clothes from well-known and expensive designersher payment of credit cards his and hers buying luxury cars.

Santos is also accused of he lied about his finances to congressional documentsas well as that he applied for and received unemployment benefits while working as a regional director of an investment firm that was shut down by the government in 2021 over allegations that it was a Ponzi scheme.

THE US Attorney Breon Peace stated that the indictment “seeks to hold Santos accountable for various alleged fraudulent schemes and brazen misrepresentations».

Overall, they accuse Santos of relying on repeated dishonesty and deception to get into the halls of Congress and get richPeace said.

Santos Delivered today Wednesday and arraigned in federal court on Long Island, where he was expected to appear in court later in the day facing charges of fraud, money laundering, theft of public money and making false statements to Congress.

When he was 19, he was the subject of a criminal investigation in Brazil for allegations that used stolen checks to purchase items at a clothing store. Brazilian authorities announced that they had reopened the case.

In 2017, Santos was accused of theft in Pennsylvania, after authorities said he used thousands of dollars in fraudulent checks to buy puppies from dog breeders. That case was dismissed after Santos claimed his checkbook had been stolen and that someone else had taken the dogs.
