The Greek minority, united after the arrest and pre-trial detention of the expatriate candidate for mayor of Heimarra, Fredi Beleri, is going to the polls this morning for the municipal elections in Albania.
With its announcement, the Central Electoral Commission clarified that Beleris remains a candidate for mayor for the municipality of Heimarra, denying fake news about his exclusion. “Responding to the interest of media representatives in the arrest of the candidate for the mayor of Heimarra, Dionysios Fredi Petrou Beleris, supported by the composition Postke Flone, the Central Electoral Commission clarifies that with regard to the electoral code, as well as the law no. 133/2015 “On ensuring the integrity of persons who are elected, appointed or hold public office”, he continues to be a candidate and his name remains on the ballot” says the announcement.
