The testimony of a Greek expatriate in Albania, who told the neighboring country’s media how he was pressured by the police to claim he was financed by Beleris.

As ERT also reported, on the day that the candidate for the mayor of Heimarra Freddy Beleris was arrested, Albanian policemen seized her expatriate woman and they took her to the Avlona police station. There, they asked her to admit that she was financed by Beleris, in order to vote for him.

What the woman reports on himara.gr:

The woman’s testimony was recorded by Albanian media, according to which the expatriate said: “Last night, at 2:30, five State Police officers came to my door and told me to open the door. I was sleeping. I was with my son because we live together. They said you will come with us to the police station so we can ask you some questions. They didn’t tell me what it was about. they bring me down they put me in the van and they take me to Avlona.

At the police station I was interrogated with my son. He is 18 years old.

I told them why I am here and I was crying with anger not out of fear that I had done something. I was told you are here for the votes. But why am I here for the votes, because I didn’t understand what I was for, what I had gone for.

I was told that there is a list with your namethat you took money from Freddy Belleris to sell your vote. I only knew Freddie by face, I said that in the testimony. As a person who lives here. I don’t know Pantelis (Kokavesis) at all. They also showed me photos if I know Pantelis and if I’m sure I don’t know him. I’m pretty sure I told them.

For Freddy, I was asked if he offered me money. Not a single word, I told them. He doesn’t know me, nor has anyone called me for a penny. I work as a cleaner at the Himara high school. I’m not even interested in politics and no one has told me to get involved. No one offered or gave me money. They ask me if we know who Freddie is running with.

I know, I told him because all of Albania knows. I thought you were going to lie to me, he said. No, I told him, why lie? I was told to tell the truth because if I didn’t tell the truth I would have the biggest consequences. No, I’m telling the truth, and verify it. Bring Freddy, if he admits he gave me money, I’ll go to jail myself. He didn’t give me money. Why would they come to pick me up at night and take me to Avlona? Without doing anything, without any input, without anything? Why should they take me? They took me and I left without money, they left me at the door of the police station and they did not bring me back here (Himara). I came on a borrowed bus.

There (in the department) they had others worse than me. They had taken us poor people. The weakest. They didn’t give me any explanation. Just answer the question we told you, I was told. I’m not afraid because I haven’t done anything. But why did they take me aron aron there, because I am a woman without anyone and I have no protection. 6 policemen come and take me with an orphan child. I’m raising two orphaned children, living in rent, working multiple jobs late into the night to make ends meet. I shouldn’t have been pulled over in the middle of the night. I hadn’t committed a crime, nothing.”
