CDC-US Dramatic Forecast: Over 62,000 deaths from coronavirus over the next 4 weeks

by

A new forecast from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) puts the death toll at more than 62,000 from COVID-19 over the next four weeks.

According to the main federal public health service, an increase in deaths is expected during this period with 10,400 to 31,000 being estimated to be found in the week ending on February 5th.

This prediction should be taken with caution, the CDCs note, given the rapid spread of the more contagious Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2, which in many cases causes milder symptoms of the disease but triggers an increase in infections and of hospital admissions.

The country recorded nearly 3,000 deaths due to COVID-19 the day before yesterday Tuesday, the heaviest toll in a single day since February 2021, according to CDC data.

Deaths from complications of the disease caused by the virus have risen in recent weeks, as the Omicron variant has caused a dizzying rise in infections and a record number of hospital admissions has been in place since early December.

The United States currently records more than 1,600 deaths from COVID-19 complications every 24 hours, according to CDC data.

This country has suffered by far the heaviest blow from the pandemic of the new coronavirus in the world in absolute magnitude, having recorded 842,322 deaths so far.
