The Russian Foreign Ministry today criticized its summit G7 in Hiroshima, Japan, calling it a “politicized” event that fostered anti-Russian and anti-Chinese rhetoric and accused the forum of undermining global stability.

THE Moscow made the remarks after the leaders of the world’s richest democracies announced they would not stop supporting Ukraine – in a warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin – while Russian forces claim to have captured Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine, something denied by Kiev.

In a statement posted on the messaging app Telegram the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairsn states that the G7 has deteriorated “irreversibly” and that the forum has become “a hatchery, where under the leadership of the Anglo-Saxons, disastrous initiatives are being prepared that undermine global stability“.

The statement accuses the G7 of fueling anti-Russian and anti-Chinese “hysteria”.

Russia was a member of the Group of 7 most industrialized republics, formerly known as the G8, until it was excluded after the annexation of Crimea in 2014.

In the same statement, the Russian ministry accused the G7 of “flirting” with non-Western countries in an attempt to hinder the development of their ties with Moscow and Beijing.

In addition, Moscow states its belief that the forum has been unable to address the interests of the Asia-Pacific region, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa or Latin America.
