The floods in the Italian region of Emilia Romagna have claimed the lives of 15 people and caused damages, which exceed 5 billion euros. The toll is heavy and in the country there is great reflection on what can be done to prevent new, similar tragedies.

At the same time, however, the media mentions another danger. The relevant alarm was signaled by the regions of Forli and Ravenna and concerns yet another consequence of the floods. Rushing waters and extensive damage to farmland have resurfaced World War II-era explosive devices, which are now in danger of exploding.

Until this moment, in the wider area of Ravenna, men and women of the Italian army have identified 6 bombs of this period. The mechanisms have been neutralized, but experts note that there are certainly others and that every possible effort should be made so that mainly farmers and rural residents are not at risk.

At the same time, however, there is a high possibility that the rushing waters have transported these bombs of the last century to central areas of various cities, which means that the danger is multiplied. For now, in many areas of the Emilia Romagna region, the Italian army has put up posters in the streets with the photos of the explosive devices found and asked all residents to be as careful as possible.
