“Spend a Night at the Presidential Palace of Taiwan”, which first started in 2019, and was suspended from 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is starting again and is a wonderful opportunity for the whole world to get to know Taiwan up close!

All citizens over the age of 20 can apply to stay in the suite inside the Lixing Building, a two-story structure adjacent to the President’s office in the Presidential Palace complex.

The historic building, which was built in 1919 during the Japanese colonial period and first served as the office of the Japanese governor-general of Taiwan, was converted into the Presidential Palace in 1950.

The program, which will last from in September to December 2023is expected to offer up to 20 guests the opportunity to spend a night in the historic building, with no more than two guests per night.

Those selected will stay for one night in a suite with breakfast the next morning.

Meanwhile, tourists are invited to turn their stay at the Presidential Office and selected travel topics into videos on some social media platform.

Topics include the country’s railways, Hakka culture, cuisine and architecture, among others, according to the office.

The campaign attracted 167 applications from 33 countries in 2019, with the promotional videos produced by the winners receiving more than 30 million views online.

This time, applications can be made here through an English website.

Applicants are asked to upload a short video, lasting up to 90 seconds, to express their reasons for wanting to visit Taiwan.

The deadline for submitting applications is June 30 and the winners will be announced in August.
