US President Joe Biden expressed his satisfaction on Saturday night (in the early hours today Greek time) for reaching a “compromise” with the Republicans that will allow the debt limit of the US federal state to be increased and “avoid the catastrophic declaration of default”.

He added that the text – the exact content of which is not yet known, only its rough outlines – would “reduce the [δημόσιες] spending” but “protecting necessary public programs.”
