Elon Musk is making his first trip to China since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
His company, automaker Tesla, announced in April that it would build a new battery factory in Shanghai.
The facility will be Tesla’s second factory in the eastern Chinese financial hub, following the massive mega-factory that began operations in 2019.
Relations between the billionaire and Beijing have caused the interesting her Washington. US President Joe Biden said in November that Tesla’s owner’s relations with foreign countries should be scrutinized.
According to Chinese diplomacy, Elon Musk told Qi Gang during their meeting that Tesla wants to increase its operations in China.
