The attacks against the subject bank were repelled by the competent services, while we are in consultation with the Prosecutor’s Office of the Supreme Court and the Prosecution of Electronic Crime for the necessary actions, it is stated in a joint announcement of the Ministries of Education and Digital Governance.

In the same announcement it is emphasized that the 3rd Lyceum exams have been completed and how nationwide exams will take place normally and with absolute security.

The announcement

“Yesterday the IEP Subject Bank platform, which is hosted on the National Technology and Research Infrastructure Network (EDYTE), was subjected to a large-scale and long-lasting distributed attack.

The aim is to prevent the conduct of internal promotion and high school graduation exams.

The attacks were isolated and exams were conducted normally in the vast majority of schools.

Today, the malicious attacks were repeated early in the morning, this time targeting the infrastructure of the platform of the National Network of Technology and Research Infrastructures (EDYTE).

The attacks were repelled by the competent services, while we are in consultation with the Prosecutor’s Office of the Supreme Court and the Prosecution of Electronic Crime for the necessary actions.

The Topic Bank platform received 165 million hits from 114 countries. It is the most significant attack ever made on a Greek public government organization.

It is noted that the topics were broadcast to all schools and the final exams of the 3rd Lyceum have been completed.

The Nationwide Exams will be held normally and with absolute security. No student of the 3rd Lyceum will be excluded from the process of the Panhellenic Examinations, because of the malicious attacks.

It is emphasized once again that the IEP Subject Bank platform trapeza.iep.edu.gr, which is hosted at EDYTE, is completely separate from the system of transmitting subjects of the All-Hellenic Examinations.
