In the coming months, it will be decided whether France will extradite Greek businessman Nikos Bogonicolo, whom the F.B.I and a New York prosecutor charge that while ostensibly operating as a defense subcontractor for NATO, it was actually playing a double game, helping Russia’s war effort to develop its next generation of weapons.

As stated in a related article today by the French newspaper Le Figaro, in June 2021 a company of the Aratos group, owned by Bogonicolo, qualified for the final phase of “NATO Innovation Challenge”, a NATO innovation competition for space applications in the fields of security and defence. The problem is that Bogonikolos was hired in 2017 as a procurement agent by a Russian company, Serniya, which the FBI says was operating under the direction of Russian intelligence. As the French newspaper reports, the American judiciary has a deadline to send the Greek businessman’s extradition request until July 9.

THE Bogonicolos He was arrested in Paris on May 9, denies the charges and has remained in custody in the French capital since then.
