The relevant announcement of the Turkish Ministry of Defense states:
“Turkey continues to contribute to regional and global peace and stability in the context of UN, NATO, EU and OSCE missions and bilateral relations.
In this context, our country closely monitors the developments in the Balkans, where we share historical and cultural values. It adopts a constructive stance and calls for restraint on the part of the parties to resolve through dialogue the recent events in the northern part of the friendly and brotherly Kosovo, which harm regional security and stability.
Following the events in Kosovo, a commando battalion attached to the 65th Motorized Infantry Brigade (Sarada Ecclesias, Kirklareli), which had previously been assigned to the NATO Force in Kosovo (KFOR), was designated as a reserve unit, based on a request submitted by the NATO Interbranch Allied Forces Command / Naples (Italy)’.
