Today, Pope Francis offered his prayer for the victims of the train accident in India and for those suffering from the sufferings of war, with special reference to Ukraine.

During his Angelus Sunday address in St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis addressed the victims of the train crash in India two days ago that, according to the latest information, killed nearly 300 people and injured about 1,200 others.

Pope Francis assured the crowd gathered in St. Peter’s Square of his prayers and said he was close to the wounded and their families. “May our heavenly Father receive the souls of the dead into his kingdom,” Pope Francis said.

Prayers for the victims of war

Pope Francis then prayed for the victims of the scourge of war, remembering in particular the suffering people of Ukraine. The protector of the Carabinieri of Italy, that “she can protect all of them and their families”, she said.
