As Tehran significantly increases its stockpile of enriched uranium, despite vehemently denying that it aspires to a nuclear bomb, the Israeli government is threatening pre-emptive military strikes on Iran if international diplomacy fails.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu brought threats of “preemptive strikes” on Iran’s nuclear facilities back to the fore yesterday Sunday, during the convening of a “war council” at the Israeli military’s underground operations center in Tel Aviv, regarding the large-scale military exercise that codenamed ‘Firm Hand’.
As Tehran significantly increases its stockpile of enriched uranium, despite vehemently denying that it aspires to a nuclear bomb, the Israeli government is threatening pre-emptive military strikes on Iran if international diplomacy fails.
“We are committed to taking action against Iran’s nukes, against missile attacks against Israel, and in the event that these fronts come together,” Netanyahu said from the Israeli military’s underground operations center in Tel Aviv.
The possibility of a threat from multiple fronts requires proactive planning of actions, Netanyahu told ministers and chiefs of the armed forces.
Earlier, the Israeli prime minister had strongly criticized the International Atomic Energy Agency on the occasion of its report a few days ago, in which the IAEA expressed satisfaction with Tehran’s explanations regarding the uranium enrichment program and with the decision of the Iranian authorities to allow the reinstallation of equipment tracking in certain locations.
“Iran continues to lie to the International Atomic Energy Agency. The capitulation of the IAEA to Iranian pressure is a black mark on its history,” Netanyahu argued.
