The seven-man Heat beat Denver!

Don’t write off Miami! Erik Spoelstra’s great team showed up transformed in Game 2 of the finals and with a terrific fourth period with a partial score of 36-25 defeated Denver beating the Nuggets 111-108 leveling the title battle at 1-1 and claiming home advantage. The series now moves to Miami for two matches, with the third of the finals taking place in the early hours of Thursday (3:30).

THE Gabe Vincent with 23 points and the Jimmy Butler and Bam Antebayo with 21 points they stood out for the Heat, but the “key” was the zone defense that completely blocked the home team in the fourth twelve minutes. THE Nikola Jokic had 41 points, 11 rebounds but only 5 assists for Denver, while 18 points and 11 assists were Jamal Murray who, however, missed a three-pointer in exhalation for the tie.

The match

The guests entered the match determined. They went 2-10 and 10-21 dominating the Nuggets who expected everything from Jokic. However, the Nuggets managed to close the first period at -3 (23-26) with 11 points from the Serb.

In the second twelve minutes, the roles were reversed and with a flurry of three-pointers from Bruce Brown, Murray and Gordon, the hosts escaped with 39-29 and a little later with 50-35. Vincent’s breakout and Butler’s wake-up cut the deficit to five and the halftime score was 57-51.

Adebayo’s action tied Game 2 again (66-66, 69-69) early in the third period, but then “The Joker” took it personally. Scoring 18 points in the third quarter allowed his team to finish it 83-75.

Not only did the Heat not lay down their weapons, but with 10 points from Duncan Robinson, they started the fourth quarter with an improbable 15-2 run and went ahead by five (85-90). Erik Spoelstra’s zone short-circuited Denver and Miami with Butler, Lowry and Adebayo reached +11 (93-104) with 4:53 left. And Martin with a new “bomb” made it 95-107 with only 3:39 left.

The Nuggets, with a 3-pointer by Gordon and two by Murray, clawed their way back into the game to within three, 106-109, with 1:09 left. The home team had a chance to save the game at the end, but the Canadian’s three-pointer in exhalation missed the target and the Heat left Denver victorious.
