This hypersonic missile is called Fattah, or “Conqueror” and can develop speeds of up to Mach 15, i.e. 15 times the speed of sound
Iran claims it has developed a hypersonic missile capable of traveling at 15 times the speed of sound, adding a new weapon to its arsenal as tensions with the US remain high over Tehran’s nuclear program.
This supersonic missile is called Fattah, or “Conqueror” and can develop speeds of up to Mach 15, i.e. 15 times the speed of sound, has a range of 1,400 km, has a movable secondary nozzle and uses solid fuels, which allow high maneuverability.
“Today we feel that deterrence has been established,” Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said at the event. “This force is an anchor of lasting security and peace for the countries of the region.”
General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, head of the aerospace program of the paramilitary Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, unveiled what appeared to be a model of the missile.

“There is no system that can compete with or counter this missile,” Hajizadeh claimed.
Iranian officials have not released footage of the Fattah being successfully launched and subsequently hitting a target. Hadjizadeh then reported that a ground test of the missile’s engine had taken place.
However, according to what was broadcast by Iran’s state television, the missile is impossible to intercept even by the most modern defense systems of the USA and Israel. And he called the completion of the rocket a “generational leap”.
