THE Ukraine announced that he was removing “more than 17,000” civilians from flooded areas around the Kahovka Dam (south), partly destroyed by explosion for which the two camps blame each other.

“More than 40,000 people are at risk of being in flooded zones. Ukrainian authorities are evacuating more than 17,000 people. Unfortunately, more than 25,000 civilians are on the ground [που τελεί] under Russian control,” Ukrainian Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin said on Twitter.

The occupation authorities installed by Moscow said for their part that they have begun the evacuation of residents from three areas, AFP notes.

Meanwhile, the small town of Olesky, on the Russian-controlled south bank of the Dnieper River in Ukraine’s Kherson region, has been almost completely flooded after the massive Kakhovka Dam breached, a Russian-appointed regional official said.

“Evacuation… is possible only using special equipment,” Andrei Aleksejenko, head of the Russian-appointed administration in Ukraine’s Kherson province, said on Telegram, posting videos showing a car stopped with water reaching window level of and a truck passing a highway where the water reaches at least 30 centimeters.
