“wake up” the Mayon Volcano in the Philippines. Philippine officials raised the alert level for one of the most active volcanoes of the countryas well as from the volcano ash, gas and lava began to spew as they fear it could lead to a dangerous explosion within days.

The 2,463 meter Mayon volcano in the central province Albay – attraction for tourists due to its almost perfect conical shape – “shows magma eruption”the state volcanological service said in a statement Thursday.

Villagers living within a 6km radius of the volcano’s crater were told that they have to give up the permanent danger zone and move to safer ground.

Mayon is the most active volcano in the country. After its violent eruption in 2018, tens of thousands of Filipinos had to leave their homes.
