“A police officer from the Cannes police station was stabbed,” Interior Minister Gerard Darmanen said on Twitter on Monday. “The perpetrator was neutralized by his colleagues. “I will go there immediately this morning and bring all my support to the police and the city of Cannes,” the minister continued.
According to Geral Darmanen, the prevailing scenario is considered to be that of “terrorist” action.
“A man attacked police officers with a knife near the main police station in Cannes. One of the police officers responded with his gun. There are no casualties and the circumstances of the attack are being clarified. “Full support for our police,” Cannes Mayor David Lisnard wrote on Twitter.
BFMTV, citing a source close to law enforcement, said the perpetrator opened the door of a patrol car parked in front of the police station and stabbed the man behind the wheel. He then tried to stab a second officer inside the vehicle, but a third officer inside the car shot him and seriously injured him.
