The indictment covers 37 criminal offenses – The former president had kept classified documents at his home even after his term in the White House ended
The former president of the USA donald trump, who was earlier arrested in federal court in Miami on 37 charges over his handling of classified documents after leaving the White House was released by a federal judge after a 47-minute hearing, according to Reuters.
The judge ruled that he is not a flight risk, and no bail will be paid. However, Trump is not allowed to contact potential witnesses in the high-profile case.
Defense attorney Todd Blanch entered a not guilty plea on behalf of the former president. Trump frowned throughout the hearing, looking at the floor for most of it, ABC reports.
The special prosecutor Jack Smithwhose investigation led to the impeachment of Donald Trump, was also in the courtroom.
The arraignment took place without cameras in court and was not broadcast live.
It is about for the second time from April when Trump will find himself as a defendant in a courtroom.
“ONE OF THE SADEST DAYS IN OUR COUNTRY’S HISTORY. WE ARE A NATION IN DECLINE!!” he reported on the social media site Truth Social. To then add “ON THE ROAD TO COURT. WITCH HUNT!!! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN (MAGA)”
The first time, in New York, he pleaded not guilty to charges that he tried to buy the silence of porn star Stormy Daniels.
Trump is the first president – current or former – to face criminal charges, but that has not dampened his hopes of returning to the White House. Quite the opposite.
He maintains a wide lead over his rivals for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, with 81% of Republican voters considering the charges against him “salacious” and politically motivated.
Trump insists on his innocence and presents the case as an attempt to undermine his bid to return to the White House.
After his court appearance, Trump will return to New Jersey, where he is scheduled to speak.

In April, Trump’s appearance in the New York court had mobilized his fanatical supporters. Today, in Miami, the authorities have prepared for the presence up to 50,000 people.
The former president is accused of possessing classified documents related to US national security and lying to officials who tried to retrieve them.
Trump, who turns 77 on Wednesday, landed in Miami yesterday in a private jet that had his name written on the side.
“I HOPE THE ENTIRE COUNTRY IS WATCHING WHAT THE FAR LEFT IS DOING IN AMERICA,” Trump earlier wrote on Truth Social before departing New Jersey.
