New veto on Sweden’s NATO accession by Turkey.

As SKAI correspondent Manolis Kostidis reports from Istanbulthe Turkish president, who spoke to reporters on his return flight from Azerbaijan, said referring to Sweden’s accession:

“If you expect us to live up to Sweden’s expectations, first of all, Sweden must wipe out what this terrorist organization has done.

While Stoltenberg was talking to us, unfortunately at that time terrorists were again demonstrating on the streets in Sweden. Later, Mr. Ibrahim (Kalin) sent these images to his counterpart.

‘Our President is currently meeting with Stoltenberg, but terrorists are still demonstrating in Sweden,’ he told him. Where are we going to catch this, how are we going to discuss it in Vilnius: Now, we cannot approach this issue positively with this image…

So where is NATO’s counter-terrorism arm? NATO must face it once. Since we haven’t dealt with it, we can’t say we’re in Vilnius or something and say ‘everything is great’!

Today my senior adviser Ambassador Akif Tsagatai Kilic, will hold the fourth meeting of the Permanent Joint Mechanism with the delegation of Sweden, Finland and NATO. It will already give them that message. “Well that’s our President’s opinion, certainly don’t expect anything different in Vilnius.”
