Two thousand people inside Milan’s Cathedral and at least 15,000 people in the square outside the Duomo are expected to say their last goodbyes today to Silvio Berlusconithe businessman and controversial politician that Italians loved to hate.

THE funeral of “Cavalier” – the honorary title of Knight that accompanied him to the end, even if he had lost it – will take place at 3 pm local time, at public expense, with military honors.

According to what has been made known by the Italian press, after the funeral, the body of the Italian tycoon and former prime minister is to be cremated and placed in the mausoleum that had been created, by his will, in the park of his villa in Arcore, just outside Milan.

Already, dozens of wreaths have begun to arrive at the Duomo, while crowds of people, supporters of Forza Italia as well as fans of Milan and AC Monza, teams of which Silvio Berlusconi was president, gather around the square of the cathedral to watch the funeral from giant screens and to say goodbye to “Presidente Silvio”.

Shortly before the start of the funeral, the coffin will be placed for a short time at the entrance of the church so that the citizens who are in the square can say goodbye to the Cavaliere.
