Lindemann, iconic figure of the German band, accused of sexual assaults after his concerts
Conducting an investigation against the singer of Rammstein Till Lindemann, the Berlin prosecutor’s office announced today Wednesday. Lindemann, an iconic figure of the world popular German band, is accused of sexual assaults after his concerts.
A spokesman for Berlin’s public prosecutor’s office confirmed to AFP that the charges related to “sexual offenses and drug trafficking”.
Rammstein is probably the one famous German-speaking band, and one of the most popular in the field of industrial metal music.
The tangle of revelations began to unravel at the end of May, following the testimony of a 24-year-old Irish woman who was at a Rammstein concert in Vilnius, Lithuania. Shelby Lynn said she was invited to a party on the sidelines of the concert where the 60-year-old singer of the band sexually assaulted her, but she avoided him. She claims that drugs were spiked into her drink because she couldn’t remember anything after a certain point, and that she woke up the next morning with bruises on various parts of her body.
More girls in the next few days they described more or less the same scenario. All of them had been seen close to the stage and were allegedly invited by Lindemann to a backstage party.
Till Lindemann has strongly denied the allegations, and his lawyers have announced that he will take legal action against the women who have accused him of sexual assault.
The band’s concerts are dominated by the element of exaggeration, with plenty of fireworks and eccentric appearances by its members.
Rammstein are currently touring Europe. In Switzerland and Austria there are calls for a boycott of their concerts, due to the allegations against the band’s singer.
