A pair of sneakers worn by living NBA and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan fetched $1.38 million (€1.26 million) at an auction by Goldin, which specializes in online sales.

The six-time NBA champion in the 1990s wore the shoes in Game 5 of the 1997 Finals against the Utah Jazz.

The series was tied 2-2 before Game 5 in Salt Lake City, also known as the ‘Flu Game’, as the Airman insisted on playing despite suffering from viral dehydration.

The Bulls star scored 38 points in 44 minutes while hitting the decisive 3-pointer in the final seconds to give his team a 90-88 victory. The Bulls were finally crowned champions after another home win (90-86) and Jordan was voted MVP.

Formerly owned by a former Utah Jazz employee, the shoes were first sold at auction ten years ago for $105,000 (€95,940).
