According to information provided by Russian commanders on the battlefield, “payments are currently being made to soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation who in the course of military operations destroyed Leopard tanks, as well as armored fighting vehicles manufactured in the US and other countries of the NATO,” the ministry announced.
Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Sunday awarded the “Gold Star of the Hero of Russia” to soldiers who Moscow says destroyed Leopard tanks and US-made Bradley armored fighting vehicles used by Ukraine.
The ministry announced that by May 31, a total of 10,257 soldiers had been rewarded for destroying 16,001 units of Ukrainian and Western military equipment.
According to the same source, the fee for an enemy armored vehicle is 50,000 rubles (547 euros) and for a tank 100,000 rubles (1,095 euros).
Air Force pilots and anti-aircraft system operators get 300,000 rubles (3,284 euros) for each Ukrainian plane or helicopter they destroy. The same amount is the fee for strikes on Tochka-U and American-made HIMARS rocket-launching systems.
