It was executed yesterday Thursday in Florida, a 62-year-old American who 40 years ago killed two women whom he had sexually assaulted.

62-year-old Dwayne Owen received a lethal injection and he was pronounced dead at 6:14 p.m. (local time, 01:14 a.m. Friday) at Florida’s Raeford prison, according to state corrections spokeswoman Kayla McLaughlin.

Owen he had been sentenced to the death penalty for the murder and sexual assault of a woman in Florida in 1984.

The children of the 38-year-old victim they were sleeping in an adjacent room and discovered the body the next day.

During his trial Owen he admitted to the murder as well as other attacks. He was also convicted of the rape and stabbing death of a 14-year-old babysitter in the same year.

In their appeal to the US Supreme Court, Owen’s lawyers asked that the death penalty not be imposed on their client, citing his disturbed mental state.

Owen is the 12th sentenced to death which has been carried out in the US this year in four states: Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Florida.
