“Unfortunately, the death toll has risen to 41,” said the official of the Russian occupation administration of the Kherson region, Andrei Aleksejenko.
Russia today raised the death toll from flooding in areas it controls in southern Ukraine to 41 after destruction of the Kahovka hydroelectric dam on the Dnieper River in early June.
“Unfortunately, the death toll has risen to 41,” said the official of the Russian occupation administration of the Kherson region, Andrei Aleksejenko.
According to an earlier tally released last Saturday by Russian-appointed authorities, the death toll from the resulting floods stood at 29.
The Kakhovka hydroelectric dam, located in an area controlled by Russian forces in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine, was destroyed on June 6.
Hundreds of square kilometers were subsequently flooded, forcing thousands of people to flee their homes and raising fears of a humanitarian disaster in addition to the environmental one.
Moscow and Kiev blame each other for this disaster.
