Two people were stabbed in a London hospital in an incident which it is not currently being treated as an act of terrorismBritish police announced, noting that a man had been arrested.

Armed officers responded to an incident at Central Middlesex Hospital after being called at 1.18pm local time (3.18pm GMT) and found two people with stab wounds. Police said one of them suffered life-threatening injuries.

“Police arrest man outside hospital”, London’s Metropolitan Police said in a statement, adding that the man is also being treated for life-threatening injuries, believed to be self-inflicted.

“Police are working to establish the circumstances. At this time the incident is not being investigated as terrorism-related.”

The hospital was temporarily closed but reopened, police said, adding that officers would remain at the hospital while further inquiries were made, but no other suspects were being sought.
