THE Ukraine will receive in total 60 billion euros more to rebuild its economy, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley said, with the end of the international donors’ conference which was organized in London.

“We didn’t think this was going to be a conference to announce commitments” from donors to rebuilding Ukraine, the British minister said. “Nevertheless, today, we have announcements of support (of Ukraine) with the total amount of 60 billion euros” in the short or medium term by states or international organizations, he added, speaking at the meeting that concluded the conference.

– Most of this amount comes from the package of 50 billion euros which intends to release the European Union until 2027.

– The USA announced that they will provide additional height assistance $1.3 billion (approx. 1.2 billion euros), mainly in the energy sector and infrastructure.

“We are starting to rebuild Ukraine this year, we will not wait for the end of the war,” Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Smikhal said, thanking Kiev’s allies for their financial support. He also welcomed the fact that “almost all participants” believe that Russia “should pay for the crimes and destruction it has caused in Ukraine.”

“We need to complete the reparations mechanism that will allow us to use frozen Russian assets to rebuild Ukraine,” he continued. International discussions on this issue are currently running into legal obstacles.

The London conference aimed to release the necessary funds for the reconstruction of Ukraine, in the short and medium term, but also to mobilize the private sector for this purpose, through investments in this country. According to Cleverly, more than 500 companies from 42 countries pledged to support Ukraine.

The conference was also an opportunity for Ukraine to show that it is implementing reforms aimed at its future membership in the European Union and to reassure investors.
