On June 25, 2009, the news that Michael Jackson (Michael Jackson) is dead has gone around the world in a flash causing the biggest websites and social media to crash from user overload.

The ‘King of Pop’ breathed his last at the age of just 50: he stopped breathing while trying to sleep under the care of personal physician Conrad Murray, who administered an overdose of propofol – also known as amnesia milk – the which proved fatal.

His death caused global shock and unprecedented mourning across the planet.

Michael Jackson’s memorial service was held on July 7, 2009 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, which was watched live on television by millions of fans of the phenomenal artist from all over the world.

Artists including Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Jennifer Hudson, Usher and his brother Jermaine Jackson sang in his memory, while Queen Latifah read “We Had Him”, a poem written by Maya Angelou. His daughter Paris spoke publicly for the first time, tearfully telling the crowd: “Since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine…and I just wanted to say I love him so much.”

In the 12 months since his death, Jackson has sold over 8.2 million albums in the United States and 35 million albums worldwide, making him the best-selling artist of 2009.

Jackson also became the first artist in history to have 4 of the top 20 albums in one year in the United States.

Jackson’s first posthumous song to be released was “This Is It,” which he had written in the early 1980s with Paul Anka.
