“We know there will be great humanitarian needs,” Trade Minister Johan Forschel said, citing the counterattack against Russian forces as well as the destruction of the Kakhovka dam.
Sweden today announced new humanitarian aid of 380 million kroner (32.5 million euros) for Ukraine, which will be given to supply basic necessities.
“We know there will be great humanitarian needs,” Trade Minister Johan Forschel said, citing the counterattack against Russian forces as well as the destruction of the Kakhovka dam.
This particular aid package is intended primarily for the “now urgent needs”, he said: food, water, personal hygiene products and various items to support the needs of civil society.
“This year, Ukraine is the first beneficiary of aid” from Sweden, according to the minister, which is expected to continue for the next few years, he added.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Sweden has announced humanitarian aid to the country of 1.9 billion kroner (almost 163 million euros) in addition to military aid of 17 billion kroner.
