George Floridis in 1993 he was elected president of the Kilkis Bar Association (March 1993-October 1993).
In 1994 he was elected prefect of Kilkis and resigned in 1996 and was elected a PASOK MP. He was then re-elected 4 times as an MP in the years 2000, 2004, 2007 and 2009. He was Deputy Minister of the Interior, Public Administration and Decentralization (30 October 1998 – 13 April 2000), Deputy Minister of Culture responsible for Sports (13 April 2000 – 24 October 2001) , Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance (24 October 2001 – 7 July 2003) and Minister of Public Order (7 July 2003 – 10 March 2004).
